Funding for PhD students' open-access journal publicationsSpecial funding for PhD students
CEU currently supports open-access journal article publications for PhD students from special funding provided by the Rector. This fund is intended to support academic careers and may increase the visibility of published work.
Criteria
Awards are based on the availability of funds and adherence to the following criteria:
- The PhD student must be the corresponding author.
- The PhD student is affiliated with CEU at the time of the submission of the funding request.
- The PhD supervisor must support the application.
- The article has been accepted for publication.
- Applicants must not have funding from an external research grant.
- Funded recipients must include the following attribution statement in the publication: “This article was published with the financial support of Central European University.”
- Funding is available for an article of up to 3000 EUR (excluding VAT).
- The Pro-Rector for Research and Faculty will ensure that only publications in prestigious outlets will be supported. As a rule, Gold Open Access Journals listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals are preferred, but Open Access articles in subscription journals (hybrid publications) will be considered from suitable publishers. Please contact the Pro-Rector directly to get pre-approval for your journal or publisher prior to the submission of your manuscript if you want to know if it will be eligible.
